Ceramics arts provides a great way to create both functional and sculptural works of art. We are lucky to create our ceramic works of art alongside working professional artists at the Mendocino Art Center. We start the semester by learning the various hand building techniques like pinch, coil, and slab. We also talk about how to use various glazes on your pieces. Second semester we learn how to reclaim clay and work on the wheel. You will walk away from this class with many new ceramic pieces such as a mug, plate, vase, bowl, box and even a whistle. Students have several opportunities to show and sell their work.<\/p>\n
