E-Lab

Students of E-Lab learn and apply skills in engineering and design to solve real-world problems. Learning occurs through direct instruction, research projects, class discussions, inquiry activities, and project-based design challenges and competitions, as well as a culminating class project. The year-long strands of E-Lab are:” Engineering as a career, The Design Process, Structures and Mechanics, Electronics, Computer Programming, Robotics, and Energy and Environmental Sustainability.

Upon completion of E-Lab, students will have a foundation in engineering and an understanding of engineering careers, be able to follow the design process, know the basics of electronics and computer programming, have experience with computer-aided design (CAD) and fabrication techniques, be able to function in teams, and demonstrate an ability to think critically to solve problems.
