Video Production

This course will provide students with an understanding of aesthetic concepts with instruction in theoretical principles and application through practice in the art of video
production.

-Students will study the language of visual arts and analyze historical television/film content to current culturally diverse issues in relationship to the influence they have in television production.

-Students will learn and increase their knowledge of film vocabulary through observation of and written reflections on film/media productions, classroom instruction, assigned reading, and group learning projects. Reflections and class discussions will enhance students’ comprehension and analysis of film productions, including genre, period, style, mood, and pacing.

-Students will read about, write about, and discuss film history, its reflection on society, its impact on society and world culture, and its various worldview correlations.

-Students will examine elements of dramatic structure by analyzing plots and plot devices in films, looking at linear and non-linear time lines, genres, etc.

-Students will study video acting techniques like performing in front of a video camera, as well as the importance of light and sound in theatre and film.

-Students will also be exposed to the power of editing choices in both skit writing and TV direction.

-Students will research and analyze uses of film making/media production within the Hollywood framework, education and personal use, as well as in various worldview applications.
